Weigh In Day!

Today is our first weigh in for our family biggest loser challenge. If you couldn't make it you can still play along. Weigh yourself today and write it down. Each week weigh yourself at the same time and track your progress.

I have a confession. I have a bunch of annoying nutrition and weight loss facts I've always wanted to share, but when I was 18 years old my best friend told me no one cares that you need to eat peanut butter on whole wheat bread for it to actually to make protein in your body. So I've kept my annoying facts to myself. I am in no way an expert, YET! One day it is my hopes and dreams to be a registered dietitian and herbalist. Nothing in my blog should be taken as expert advice. So read if you like, comment if you like.

Basic weight loss is based on calories. How much you take in and how much you put out. Check out this website to find out how many calories your body needs just to stay alive. http://health.discovery.com/centers/heart/basal/basal.html This is if you laid on the couch and didn't move. Basic movement probably adds about 400 calories and the more active you are the more calories you need. Sometimes being a busy mom I feel like I use allot of calories but everyday movement isn't as much as you think it would be
I found a free website that will keep track of how many calories you ate and burnedhttp://www.my-calorie-counter.com/. Basic info is it takes 3500 calories to make a pound and 3500 calories to lose a pound. So if you can cut what you eat and burn calories by 500 a day you will lose one pound a week.
I'm excited for this challenge. As Jeremy's coach I will be getting our family to move everyday. He doesn't know it yet but when we watch tv we will be doing situps, pushups, banana rolls, sqauts you name it during the commercials.
So comment and make me feel loved. Too annoying, too basic?

The Biggest Loser Competition!

K Family this blog will hopefully be a great way we can all stay motivated in achieving our goals. We can talk about the different ways we exercised, yummy nutritional meals we ate, or wish we ate instead of the McDonald's we had. We can also use this to announce our weight loss each week.
Hope to see you all on Sunday for our first weigh in. We are trying to figure out the best way to keep track of weight while keeping everyone happy. First idea was a moderator can write down everyone's weight and will be the keeper of that info. Moderator can be someone nonthreatening like Abigail or someone else we decide on. Then weekly when you let us know how many pounds you lost we would figure out your percentage of weight loss and post it. Which is the real determination of our Biggest Loser. Second idea we go on honesty and everyone keep track of their own weight. You can post your pounds lost to inspire everyone. Third idea is we have each person write down their own weight and seal it in an envelope and we keep it until the challenge is over. Then weekly we would only post pound numbers instead of percentage numbers. Give me your ideas!
I can't wait for this great game to begin so excited.
